Photographer Sam Walton has documented over 40 musicians performing silently as part of photography project titled Enable Original Sound. Sam captured me performing a turntable improv set in my head, in my home in East London.
Enable Original Sound is a series of 40 video portraits showing musicians performing, in real time, in their head and in silence, a piece of music that has significance for them.
These performances show how, through only physical movement, a legitimate musical experience can be enjoyed without any sounded music. That experience can become externally tangible, too, perhaps even conferring a musical experience on the viewer.
